![]() The reason I am so skeptical with Norms product(rapid seps) and anyone giving reviews on it is 1 there have been false reviews before. So yes I understand the seps are not the only thing involved and probably understand more of the process from start to finish then 60%-75% or more of most printers out there. I set both of them and reprint and it takes about 5-8 prints and I am getting 2%-98% on the garment. Print films print garments and pay to have them read with a densimeter and discover the Rip I amd using not only has setting for the inkjet printer dot gain but dot gain for the exposure unit all the way screen printer in another setting. So now I learn how to adjust for dot gain. I was beside myself all the senior printers are telling me single point is the best and hold more detail but I was loosing it on the press. The screens captured the tones but when printing I was lucky to retain 10%-90%. ![]() Then I switch to single point so I can get the 2%-98% instead of 6%-94%. Had good prints, I could see the very low and the upper range tones were missing but the rest can out well when printing. I used a unfiltered black light unit for several years. Multi point exposure unit have undercutting which in essence will reduce you dots. Most of the shops I've gone to don't make adjustments for dot gain. Screen print requires not only talent but good equipment, the knowledge to use it properly. I have my suspicions which one will prevail and I will only say it's proably the only developer that has never backed out of the previous contest. I think I'm going to get a Pantone matching system by Union ink so it maybe a month. I like it to be a 5 color or under image as that's 25 screens there. Run though the same RIP with the same settings. What I am going to do is sep out each with the program. I have Wilflex but it only runs on XP and old versions of photophop. Sep it in every program I own, Ultra Seps, T-Seps, Seperation Studio, Simple Seps, and any of the others that offer a trial that I don't own like Rapid Seps, not sure what else ther is. Well it's going to happen but this time I'm going to take 1 file. Norm from rapid seps admits he couldn't win was the reason he backed out. But all but one changed their mind before the contest was to begin. Almost everyone that was invited accepted. I was giving them the chance to either convert to halftones or allow me to use my RIP which is calibrated to my printer, my exposure unit, and to my press including me as the printer. I even invited some of the self proclaimed manual top separators to join in. They had to run a screen capture program and record the entire seperation including emailing it to me so that there was no Tom Foolery. The rules were they had to use their program, were allowed to adjust as needed but here was the kicker. I have on numerous occasions offered every developer to enter a seperation contest. Up until about 18-24 months ago I was still up in the air if something would work or not even after 5-6 years of printing. I don't even consider myself that good but my customers and even some of the better screen printer do, what I am confident at and know what will and won't work as long as the screen printer can expose, register, and print the job is seperations. If your talented enough to be able to tell what a seperation is going to look like then why would you even be asking about all these seperation programs and saying that you can afford a $500 program. Your post though raise even more suspicion. I am my sales staff, graphic department, senior screen printer, delivery boy. I can say tho, that I have continued to hear good comments about the QuickSeps/UltraSeps in all areas of price, support and features. I don't know anything about those areas for each product so I cannot comment across the board. To me then it comes down to price, options and support. I assume it's at the least, also "as good as the others". Quality is yet to be determined based on feedback of the owners (and the level of knowledge/experience with others) they truly have, but I have been hearing from the cowed that purchases it mediocre to decent approval. SimpleSeps Raster is pretty new to the show. Many also like the one sold at T-Biz Network for it's many features. Over all, I've been seeing over the years that QuickSeps/UltraSeps has been getting the most "thumbs up". Some have more actions/options/features than others and that can be beneficial at times.Īny one of them can speed up your process a little more. You can go to any of these listed, check out the websites and they should have a downloadable free (trial) version.Īs Red5 mentioned, they all do about the same level of quality. Sorry, That is like asking, Where can I get a new car that is free? I don't know of any that are free and if so, I doubt they would be very useful or beneficial. ![]()
